Our Peoples' Dream

The New Zealand Maori Community have been trying to establish marae in Australia for over 30 years.  So far this has been unachievable for a number of reasons and as the years go by, this goal moves further out of our reach.

To be able to realise this dream requires the input of all our iwi, our people, our friends, our whanau/family and many more.  Help MaraeMelbourne to achieve this dream, to establish and develop marae here for its people to enable them to celebrate who they are and where they come from in a place they can truly call our own.

MaraeMelbourne Inc has taken up the challenge to achieve the kaupapa of constructing Australia’s first operating Marae. The complex will stand in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. A very strong and skilled Management Committee is leading this kaupapa on behalf of the people. The research has taken place (over a 7 year period). The strategies have been developed and embedded.
